SCPASSThe South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (SCPASS) is a statewide assessment program administered to students in grades 4–8. The SCPASS includes tests in science and social studies. All students in grades 4–8 are required to participate in the SCPASS, except those who qualify for the South Carolina Alternate Assessment (SC-Alt). The SCPASS test items are aligned to the South Carolina academic standards for each content area and grade level. Standards outline what schools are expected to teach and what students are expected to learn. The SCPASS test items have been written to assess the content knowledge and skills that are described in the academic standards. During the item development process, South Carolina educators review the items to make sure that there is a match between the items and the standards. Links to the academic standards and support documents are available on the South Carolina Department of Education Web site at http://ed.sc.gov/instruction/standards-learning/.
